Halloween Teaching Resources

Can you believe it’s half term already?

As we approach Halloween this Sunday, we want to provide you, lovely tutors, with some inspiration by sharing our recommended festive resources. Have a look at the links below to discover materials that are sure to introduce some spooky fun into lesson plans this October half term!

For younger children

Twinkl has some wonderful Halloween-themed resources to support early years lesson plans – take a look at their History of Halloween Reading Comprehension and Halloween Early Writing Activities, or enjoy some family-friendly Halloween activities with the free to download Halloween Family Fun Activity Pack.

Teachwire and TES have also compiled great lists of free resources for reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils.

If you would like to delve deeper into the festival itself, we would recommend making use of Newsround’s great content on the history of Halloween, and the traditions that surround it.

For older students

BBC Teach has a great library of videos, which you can use to enhance your lesson plans by introducing a seasonal theme.

From how Shakespeare was influenced by witchcraft, to top tips for a plastic-free Halloween, and understanding how the natural landscape changes throughout Autumn, their resources cover a wide variety of subjects!

BBC Bitesize also has some useful information on the history of Halloween, as well as some eco-friendly ideas for a green Halloween, and a difficult quiz to test your knowledge!

We hope all of you and your families have a wonderful half term and a fun Halloween.
